A Look Into: Blacksad by Juan Díaz Canales and Juanjo Guarnido

   Visiting an unknown city provides a backdrop that can attract many to discover what's under each crevice of it's surface.  Some of those holes can lead you down a path that is more seedy than you initially expected. Once you uncover the secrets of that city, you can never go back. These thoughts of curiosity and worry make detective noir so intriguing. Creative team Juan Diaz Canales and Juanjo Guarnido both creating a world that dives head first into the genre. The series they created is called Blacksad

    Blacksad follows the adventures of detective John Blacksad as he delves into the world of crime that has him uncover murders, abductions, racism, and much more.  The complete series is divided into three hardcover books by Dark Horse Comics. The first volume contains three stories: Somewhere Within The Shadows, Arctic Nation, and Red Soul. The later two only contain a single story arc, with volume 2 containing A Silent Hell and volume 3 with Amarillo

   To give this series the respect that it deserves, each volume will be reviewed in it's own article. The stories will be delved into with some spoilers, so please read the following reviews with caution. On Sunday (3/25), Monday (3/26), and Tuesday (3/27), a review of each volume will be posted. Should I Buy BlackSad?

  Do you like detective stories? Are you intrigued by noir films? If your answer was yes then you should give Blacksad a try.. The beautiful artwork of  Guarnido combined with the words crafted by Canales will make you long for more work from them.
