Stand out trailers from The Game Awards 2024

A full presentation of the Game Awards.

On December 12th, 2024, Geoff Keighley presented to the world the 10th Game Awards ceremony. This ceremony is the largest gaming awards in North America and has been an important part of the gaming community. From musical performances and acknowledgements of the highlights of the accomplishments of some of the best games of the year, this ceremony continues to provide talking points for others to discuss for weeks to come. One of the biggest things that the show also provides is premieres of new games and updated trailers. Now, living in the afterglow of the show, we have a few trailers that stood out to us and makes us excited for the upcoming years in gaming. Below are four of the biggest titles that stood out during the show.

Okami 2

Teaser for Okami 2…

The teaser fed into the nostalgia of those who have played for first entry in the series on PS2, Wii, or on other current consoles. Being a title from the defunct Clover Studios (Viewtiful Joe, God Hand), so many have a soft spot for the Sun goddess Amaterasu and her mighty Celestial Brush. Okami is a title that inspired by director Hideki Kamiya’s love for Zelda games. From its unique artstyle to is interesting take on Japanese folklore, Okami continues to be a title that many enjoy. Outside of the DS title, Amaterasu continues to appear in other titles like Tatsunoko vs Capcom, Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds, and several others. We look forward to seeing more of what Capcom have planned for Okami 2.

The Witcher IV

The first look at Witcher IV from CD Project Red.

One of my personal favorite titles of all times is Witcher 3. The adventures of Geralt of Rivia continue to provide a look into the dark, fantasy world created by Andrzej Sapkowski. Along with Geralt, we also followed Ciri, the only female Witcher of the series. Geralt searches to find her while she’s being haunt down by the Wild Hunt. The title appears to be solely from the eyes of Ciri. If history has shown us anything, CDPR has a history of sharing information on titles that are in the works but are a long way from being released. We do not foresee this title releasing before 2026. Regardless, as a Witcher fans, we look forward to learning more about what we can expect from this new entry into the series. Until we get the game, I do hope the studio will revisit Witcher 3 and give us a Playstation 5 Pro update.

Project Century premiere trailer from The Game Awards show…

Project Century

Sega’s Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio came out with back to back announcements that surprised everyone watching the show. Announcing a new entry to the Virtual Fighter series was great for the fighting game series. Once that trailer ended, we were led to another trailer that highlighted a new IP from the Yakuza team. While the game does share some DNA from the Yakuza titles, the game does have a feel that comes across as a unique title. More will be shared as time passes and the studio shares more with the world.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet

The announcement trailer from Naughty Dog’s newest IP…

The Games Award has a history of dropping an unexpected trailer towards the end of the show and this year was no different. As we move past The Last of Us and Uncharted, all eyes has been on Naughty Dog and what they plan to release next. We knew a potential new title was on the way but would it be a sequel or a new IP. During this trailer, we caught a glimpse of a new universe that we will explore from the perspective of Jordan, who’s played by Tati Gabrielle (Netflix’s YOU, Uncharted). When looking at clues in the trailer, we also see that Jordan accepted a bounty for a character named Colin Graves, who appears to be played by Kumail Nanjiani (The Eternals, The Big Sick, Silicon Valley). In the trailer, we do see, on a board, that Jordan has also been looking for other members of her group, the Five Aces. It appears that Colin was in that group, along with three others. Beyond that, we have not be shown who else may be a part of this space adventure. We do know that they also partnered with Trent Renzor and Atticus Ross, who have both worked in different bands, including one you may have heard of (Nine Inch Nails, anyone?) and have scored multiple films including The Social Network (2010) and this year’s Challengers. All things considered, this is being geared to be an awesome sci-fi title from one of the best studios in the field.

We understand that these may not be the titles that stood out the most to everyone else but based on our sensibilities, these games made the largest impression. How about you? Which title stood out to you? Share with us your thoughts in our Facebook group. We will also have a new page on Instagram and other social media sites. Thank you for reading and stay tuned for more gaming updates from us.
