Too Many Games, Not Enough Time: Five of Our Favorite Games of E3 2019
June 9th to 13th 2019 marked the annual E3 event of this year. Along with updated trailers of previously announced games, we also saw trailers of new games. There were plenty of games that we are very excited about that may have their own post in the future. For now, we wanted to focus on five smaller titles that may have flown under some people’s radar. Below are some of the games that we are excited for and were pleasantly surprised about.
Cris Tales
From Modus Games, Cris Tales is a game that provides an unique experience RPG that shows how your immediate actions can affect your past, present, and future. One of the great things about this title is that you can play the demo today through Steam.
Genesis Noir
Feral Cat Den has presented a game that takes a unique look at noir stories. Originally, Genesis Noir was a backed project on Kickstarter but make an appearance on the PC Gaming State during E3. The beautiful art style provides an amazing backdrop to a detective story that puts you in a battle of preventing the expansion of the universe in order to save your love. Currently, the game is set for release on PC and Mac. I hope this game also finds its way on other home consoles.
Astral Chain

From the legendary studio Platinum Games (Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising, Vanquish) comes their next entry on the Nintendo Switch: Astral Chain.
Astral Chain shows a advance city called the Ark being over run by alien creatures. The police force, Neuron, is tasked with dealing with this threat and one way that they have discovered how to fight back is by forging bonds with some of the creatures. Making these creatures their companions turn them into Legions.
This appears to be another awesome title for the Switch that fans of the console will not have to wait too long to play. It will release on 09/30/2019 in North America. If you can’t wait until then, check out the video on the right to see some of the Nintendo Treehouse playthrough during E3.
Spiritfarer

After the fanfare that was Keanu Reeves entering the Xbox E3 stage, an wonderfully whimsical game was premiered. The art style and music alone was captivating and made me want to look more into the title. Spiritfarer is a title brought to us by Thunder Lotus Games. (Jotun, Sundered) and they describe it as “a cozy management game about dying.”
While we have limited knowledge about this game, I feel that the less we know about it, the better. This title is expected to launch in 2020 and will be available on Steam, Xbox, PS4, and Switch.
RPG Time: The Legend of Wright
The next game was also shortly after the reveal from Cyberpunk 2077. RPG Time: The Legend of Wright shows a unique experience that resembles the doodles and hand-made toys that allowed kids to live out the fantasies that filled their imaginations. This game appears to hit some of the notes that David Jaffe tried to emulate with his 2017 title Drawn to Death but with a lighter approach and more appealing aesthetic for a broader audience. Much hasn’t been released about this title. Either way, I’m very excited to dive deeper in this game and see more of what make ups the legend of Wright. Sadly, other gamers and myself will have to wait until the game’s release in 2020 on PC, Xbox, iOS, and Android.
Final Thoughts…
Here’s our small selection of titles you may not have noticed during E3 2019 that should be on your watch list. As the year continues, we will have bigger titles coming into our office, from Kojima’s Death Stranding and Borderlands 3 to Pokemon Sword and Star Wars: Jedi’s Fallen Order. These are the games that we feel will sell no matter the coverage they receive. Our goal to shine more light on the titles that may be easily overlooked and could possibly end up on one of your Best of- list at the end of 2019 or 2020.
